Toshiba/Microsoft/End-User Wars

Admittedly, it doesn’t quite have the same ring as “Star Wars,” but I figure that certain portions of my readership may find this interesting.

Kyle (the honorary family member) has embarked on a crusade against the major corporations of evil etc. etc. that:

  1. Refuse to sell their notebooks without Windows pre-installed
  2. Refuse to honour the terms of the EULA – i.e. refund the user that doesn’t accept Microsoft’s licence

To be read in the following order:

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Enjoy.

  1. Excellent! I have read some stories of people that denied the EULA and had their money refunded. Sadly they are always a very few bunch from all the people that try.

I am looking forward to buying a Dell soon with Linux preinstalled. They are already selling desktops as well as servers with no OS. This is the first time that one of the big players is taking a step in the right direction towards liberating us from Microsoft’s grip lock.

I am not against people using Microsoft products. They help the productivity of millions of people around the world every single day. What I am against is them trying to impose me a purchase of a license that I am not interested in. I have a right to chose. I plan to exersize it 🙂 !
